On March 6th, 2025, the greens of Reading Country Club came alive with community spirit and compassion as the Alberton SPCA hosted their annual Golf Day, bringing together local businesses and animal lovers in support of the organisation’s life-saving work. Among the proud participants was Protea Turf Equipment, who sponsored a hole and entered a four-ball team—all in the name of helping animals in need.
The initiative began when Nancy Dalton, Sales & Marketing at Protea Turf Equipment, came across a heartfelt Facebook post from the Alberton SPCA inviting companies to participate by sponsoring holes and entering teams. Moved by the cause, Nancy wasted no time and approached Sean Kollnick, Director of Protea Turf Equipment, to get the company on board.
“As animal lovers, we didn’t hesitate,” said Nancy. “We knew this was a meaningful way for Protea to give back. The SPCA speaks for those who can’t—innocent animals who rely on compassionate people to stand up for them.”
Nancy and Sean reached out to Lauren Martens from the Alberton SPCA Fundraising Committee, and with excitement and dedication, Protea Turf Equipment officially joined the event.

In addition to sponsoring a hole on the course, Sean—an avid golfer—entered a four-ball team made up of close friends and fellow professionals:
- Sascha Krupke from @bassingwithsascha
- KJ Watkins from @tysica_steel_and_laser
- James Bradnick from @urbanpoetry_marketing
The group brought both talent and enthusiasm to the course, playing for a purpose far greater than just a good round of golf.
“It was an incredible day,” said Sean. “Spending time on the course with friends while raising funds for a cause we truly care about—it doesn’t get better than that. Protea believes in giving back, and this was the perfect opportunity to support the tireless work the SPCA does for animals in our community.”

The event raised crucial funds to help the Alberton SPCA continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming vulnerable animals. The organisation, which relies heavily on public support and fundraising events like this one, plays a vital role in advocating for those who have no voice.
The partnership between Protea Turf Equipment and the Alberton SPCA is a shining example of how businesses can play a meaningful role in community upliftment.
“At Protea, we don’t just build machines—we build community,” said Nancy. “And we’re proud to stand beside those who dedicate their lives to protecting animals.”
