Have any questions or need clarification on something? We might have answered your questions already. Read through these frequently asked questions below, otherwise you are welcome to send us a message.
What is a cylinder mower?
A cylinder mower is a lawnmower that features a cutting cylinder (a reel of blades that form a helical shape around a shaft). The cutting cylinder is in constant contact with a bottom blade/bedknife and when in use, utilises a shearing action to cut the grass between the blades.
Why use a cylinder mower instead of a rotary mower?
A cylinder mower will deliver a far superior finish in comparison to a rotary mower, especially on the lawn that is kept relatively short (i.e. below 15mm in length).
An additional benefit to utilising a cylinder mower is the fact that it will also promote a healthier lawn over the long-term.
Is Protea Turf Equipment really South African?
Yes, we take pride in the fact that over 95% of our components are locally sourced and all fabrication takes place within South Africa.
Does Protea Turf offer ride-on mowers?
We do not manufacture ride-on mowers; however, our entire range of mowers is self-propelled. It is possible to fit a trailer seat on a select few of our products, enabling the operator to sit and be towed by the machine during cutting.
Do you offer services on your machines?
Absolutely. We encourage all Protea customers to consider having their machine serviced at least once a year. By doing so, wearable components can be replaced before they cause avoidable damage to the machine. A Bonus - our quotations on repairs and services are 100% obligation-free.
